Desire, aversion, restlessness, sleepiness, and doubt are the moods that can keep you from reaping the many physical and psychological benefits of meditation. These states of mind impede your journey, and in this class, we’ll problem-solve the Five Hindrances.
Through discussion, activities, practice, and lecture, we’ll learn to recognize each Hindrance and use tools to lay it aside. Want to meditate but always fall asleep? Would you rather scrub out your oven than close your eyes and breathe? Think the whole Mindfulness Thing is a fad? Come learn ancient practices for getting to your meditation seat every day and staying there!

Eliza Callard is a life-long NW Philly girl, a writer, and an exercise-crazy cystic fibrosis patient. She has studied mindfulness and Buddhism for eleven years, and loves to teach about the dharma. She lives in Germantown with her wife and family.
